New Year, New Mascots

Everyone at Camp Bluebonnet knows how much our campers love our camp mascots!

Every year our wonderful former camper Ava Creer (@creercrafts) creates our camp mascots by hand. She donates these mascots to the silent auction that ends on Family Day at camp, and they are always our most expensive item!

This year, Ava had so many wonderful mascot ideas that we decided to turn it into a competition... and a fundraiser!

While all three teams are VERY adorable, we need to have a winner! You can cast your vote via donation by clicking on the image of your favorite team, or by clicking the button below.

Voting ends on October 21st, so vote while you still can!

Major Upcoming Events

November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and we have some big things coming up!

Diabetes Day Celebration - 11/13

We will have our second annual Diabetes Day Celebration on November 13th from 5-8pm at Ani's Day and Night in Austin. There will be diabetes themed carnival games, vendor booths, and Camp Bluebonnet themed drinks!

10% of proceeds from our event get donated directly to us, so come hang out with the CB Community and have some fun!

CB x Kendra Scott Give Back Event - 11/23

The incredible people over at the Kendra Scott flagship store connected with us recently to set up a fundraiser for Camp Bluebonnet.

20% of all purchases made in store on 11/23 from 6-8pm at the flagship location on South Congress AND all online purchases made using our code will be donated directly to Camp Bluebonnet!

We are so thankful for this partnership and look forward to seeing our community come together to buy adorable jewelry and donate to our kids at camp.

Volunteering Opportunities

Camp Bluebonnet is always looking for volunteers, even in our "off season"!

While a lot of the work for camp gets done between January and June, we have several year round volunteers that ensure camp runs smoothly.

We have an open spot on our board of directors for a Treasurer. If you are interested in this role, please email outreach@cbt1d.org with information about your previous treasury experience as well as any other relevant info.

We are also on the lookout for someone to help with social media! If you have any interest in or history with content creation, social media, or anything related please email us at outreach@cbt1d.org.

Peer-to-Peer Fundraising

Thanks to Givebutter, our favorite nonprofit fundraising platform, we can now create a year-long online fundraiser that also lets members of our community launch their own campaigns under the main fundraiser. This is called "peer-to-peer" fundraising.

How does peer-to-peer fundraising work?

Once you email us with your interest, we will create a "team" for you under the umbrella of our 2027 Camp Bluebonnet Fundraiser. On your personal team, you will be provided with a page to tell your story about why you're fundraising with us, as well as your relation to type one diabetes, and anything else you find important to your campaign!

Your page has several cool functions under the "Share & Manage" button including:

• A personal link that sends supporters straight to your campaign page
• A simple way to invite people to donate using their email or phone number (it will also send up to 2 reminders!)
• A list of all your supporters
• An easy spot to edit your story, fundraising goal, and display name

If you have any questions, or are ready to get started, send us an email at outreach@cbt1d.org. As a reminder, if your camper is in need of financial aid, you will need to complete at least one fundraiser before camp, and this is a great way to do so!
